RAE 2008 - outstanding results for Computer Science
Over half the research outputs in Computer Science at UH have been rated at world- leading or internationally excellent in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008. This is an outstanding result for the School of Computer Science.
The RAE is conducted every seven years by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to assess the quality of research in UK universities.
In Computer Science 10% of outputs were rated at 4 stars (world leading) and 45% at 3 stars. 25 FTE Category A staff were submitted.
Overall we are rated the top performing post-1992 university in research. As our research programme feeds strongly into our undergraduate teaching, the RAE result should give further confidence to those studying at UH or considering applying.

In the previous three RAEs including the most recent in 2001, the research in Computer Science at UH achieved a rating of 4 (Nationally Excellent), under a different assessment scheme.
