Professor Floridi appointed Editor-in-Chief of new journal by Springer
Professor Luciano Floridi, from the School of Humanities, has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Philosophy and Technology, a new journal to be launched by Springer in 2011.
Technologies have brought enormous benefits and opportunities, but they have also raised new and pressing challenges, whose complexity and global dimensions are rapidly expanding and evolving. Such challenges will be addressed in the journal in order to improve the understanding of how technologies ‘fit’ into the world and their consequences for human welfare and edification. The journal will publish the best research produced in all areas where philosophy and technology meet, regardless of the tradition, school of thought or disciplinary background from which it derives. It will seek to obtain a broad impact, not only on academic research but also on social and political issues and relevant policy-making activities.
