Call for Papers

The 5th Bi-annual International Conference in University Learning and Teaching is being hosted by the University of Hertfordshire School of Education in partnership with Universiti Teknologi Mara (Malaysia), who hosted the conference in 2008. This is the first time this conference is being held in Europe, and we are being ambitious in our intellectual and practical, agenda-setting scope, reflected in our broad approach to themes.

Presentations

The conference aims to stimulate debate and progress the policy, practice and discourse around the future of Higher Education, and is therefore being formatted in a discursive format rather than ‘traditional’ paper presentations. Presenters will be grouped in three’s with a specialist Chair, and each will present in 5 minutes maximum the key findings of their paper and the key issues that it raises. The remainder of the 40 minutes session will be discussion with the participants, debate and reflection on the outcomes of the papers to make them meaningful to the audience. Full papers will be available online 3 weeks prior to the opening of the conference and should be circa 6,000 words.

Publications

The following journals are supporting this conference by considering full papers that meet their criteria either for inclusion in a conference special edition or for general inclusion as appropriate: Futures, Research in Education, Policy Futures in Education, International Journal of Learning Technology, and Journal of Research in International Education.

Virtual attendance

Virtual attendance at the conference will allow access to the papers in advance with the facility to propose questions for the discussion presentation, access to podcasts of the discussions themselves, and then inclusion in the additions to the discussions that will operate through discussion boards which will continue for a week after the conference presentations. The discussions around the presentations will be recorded and available as podcasts shortly after the discussions take place.
