Frequently asked questions about applying online

I have not received an email confirming my password

Please check your junk/trash folder in case your SPAM filter has classified the email as potential SPAM. Otherwise please complete the registration screen again to see if you now receive an email. If not, you can still apply manually for a vacancy by using the printable version of the application form available from the vacancy page, or by telephoning the Human Resources Department 24 hour voicemail box on 01707 284802 for an application form.

 

I don’t have email, how can I apply online?

Unfortunately you will need to have access to an email account to Register for the online application form, as this is used to send you your unique password. However you can still apply manually for a vacancy by using the printable version of the application form available from the vacancy page, or by telephoning the Human Resources Department 24 hour voicemail box on 01707 284802 for an application form.

 

How can I find out more about a vacancy?

You can access further details of a post by clicking on the appropriate alpha-numeric reference number (e.g. OV8156).

If you still require further information, please email jobs@herts.ac.uk stating the job reference number and your query.

 

I have not received an email confirming submission of my application form

Please contact the Human Resources Department at jobs@herts.ac.uk, stating your concern, and we will check our system to see if the application form has been received.

 

I have accidentally submitted my application form without completing all sections, but cannot apply again for the same post.

Unfortunately once you have submitted an application form for a post you are unable to apply again for that post online. You will have to email the Human Resources Department at jobs@herts.ac.uk and ask them to disregard your application. You can however apply again by using the printable version of the application form available from the vacancy page, or by telephoning the Human Resources Department 24 hour voicemail box on 01707 284802 for an application form.

 

How do I apply for another Vacancy?

If you have already applied for a vacancy by using the online system, you can apply for more than one vacancy, provided you clicked 'yes' for the option that said “To confirm whether you are happy to keep your details accessible on the web for further application (for a period of 6 months)” and clicked on 'save'. If not, you will have to start again.

 

I can only add one Employment or Qualification Detail

The Employment and Qualification screens are used to enter all employment details and qualification details, one employment or qualification detail per screen. After completing the first Employment or Qualification screen you will need to press the “add details” button.

Once you have added these details you will note that a summary of your information appears as a line at the bottom of the screen. These details can be edited or deleted by pressing the appropriate button. You will also notice that the screen is now blank enabling you to enter further details. Please note you will need to press the “add details” button after each new entry.

To progress to the next screen you will need to press the “proceed” button.

 

On Step 8/9, when I click on 'save' the page refreshes and the 'yes/no' buttons defaults back to 'no'

If you clicked 'save' on this step, then your details should be saved Please back-up your personal information into Microsoft Word or textpad BEFORE submitting your application in case you wish to apply for another vacancy. Please contact HRIS@herts.ac.uk if you clicked on 'save' on step 8/9 and cannot view your details after submission.
