Staff mobility

All staff at the University of Hertfordshire - both academic and professional - can undertake a mobility visit with one of our partner universities in Europe under the EU Erasmus programme.
We have partners in most European countries.
Partner universities
Erasmus

Erasmus offers a great opportunity to teach or work in another country and to get to know first-hand the workings of another European educational system.
An Erasmus mobility visit can help you:
- pick up new ideas.
- explore teaching curricula and research.
- learn about new tools and technologies.
- discover best practices to take back and improve your own ways of working.
You may discover your counterparts in other countries face the same challenges, and we can all benefit from each other's experiences.
Colleagues returning from an Erasmus exchange extol the benefits and virtually all take up another exchange opportunity.
An Erasmus mobility visit can help you to build up a network of international contacts, and perhaps even brush up your language skills
Academic staff
The recommended minimum duration for teaching assignments is 5 days and they may not exceed a maximum of 6 weeks.
Teaching assignments shorter than the recommended period must include at least 5 teaching hours.
Professional staff
Staff training is an option for professional staff who want to take part in the Erasmus programme, with mobility such as short secondments, job-shadowing and study visits.
Placements can range from 5 days to a maximum of 6 weeks.
Contact us for an information pack or to discuss your possibilities.
Santander Universities

The University is a member of Santander Universities which offers participating universities:
- short courses
- seminars
- workshops
- staff development opportunities
The Santander network has almost 1,000 universities in 15 countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
Such staff development opportunities are posted on studynet as and when they are advertised.
Europe Week

The University hosts a Europe Week every March, which is designed to:
- give students an international exposure through lectures and seminars on European and intercultural topics.
- foster academic links.
- promote student mobility.
Europe Week involves teachers from many of our Erasmus partners, and includes a research forum.
If you are a colleague from a partner university and wish to participate in Europe Week at Hertfordshire, please contact us.
