On arrival

To help our new international students settle into life at the University, we offer an overseas students’ orientation programme in Semester A and in Semesters B.

Dates for the next orientation programmes:

  • Semester A: Saturday 19 until Sunday 27 September 2009.
  • Semesters B: Saturday 23 January until Sunday 31 January 2010.

The programme is free, and has been designed to equip you with all the knowledge you need to help settle into life at the University.

The orientation programme

The programme provides you with information and guidance on:

  • University procedures
  • studying in the UK
  • immigration rules and regulations
  • health care
  • welfare support.

You will be able to:

  • enrol on your programme of study
  • undertake English language testing if necessary
  • registering with the police (if you need to)
  • register with the University Medical Centre
  • open a bank account.

Social events

Through the various social events that we organise, there will be plenty of opportunity to meet new people and make friends, and you will start to find your way around the campuses and the local area.
