Where is the University of Hertfordshire?
The University is based in Hatfield, just 20 minutes from London. The University has two main sites: College Lane Campus and de Havilland Campus, the two sites are less than one km apart and are linked by pathways, cycle routes and the university shuttle bus. Am I able to come and visit the university before I start my course?
We have numerous open days over the course of the year where you will be able to view the facilities the university has to offer, on campus accommodation a well as having the opportunity to speak to academic staff and students. Please follow this link for more information on our open days.
Applying
Where can I get an application form from?
You are able to download an application form from our website .
For undergraduate entry international students can apply to the University either through UCAS or via an approved representative. Please see our regions and countries section for details of our representative in your country.
How long will it take to receive my offer?
An offer may take up to two weeks to process. Some offers can take longer depending on course and point of application. If you are applying for one of the subjects in creative arts, health or education you can expect decisions to take longer than standard due to additional checks and entry requirements.
I am not able to attend this year, can I defer my offer?
If you would like to defer your offer, you will need to email deferral@herts.ac.uk stating your application number, full name and the intake you would like to be deferred to.
Can I make an application if I’m awaiting evidence of my academic qualifications?
You can still apply even if you haven’t yet received all of your academic results. You will receive a conditional offer outlining what qualifications and grades you will need to achieve in order to meet our entry requirements. Once you have received evidence of obtaining your qualifications you can email them into us at results@herts.ac.uk
What is the refund procedure?
Full refunds are only issued if a student is refused their visa or they have not met the entry requirements of the course they wish to study. Any other circumstance will incur a non-refundable charge of £2,000. Details of refunds can be found in our terms and conditions page .
CAS & VISA
Does the university help me with my visa application?
We do not offer visa support to applicants. Assistance is only provided when registered University of Hertfordshire students are applying for a renewal or extension of the student visa. Please follow this link to find out more about the visa appling process.
Am I able to work whilst studying?
International Students are able to work part-time for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Please visit the UK Border Agency’s website for further details.
Can I remain in the UK to work following graduation?
For students graduating prior April 2012, students can remain in the UK up to 2 years on a post study work visa. For students joining the university and graduating after 2012, students will need to apply through the post study category.

What do I do if my VISA expires before the graduation ceremony?
The exam office will provide you with a VISA support letter to state that you have completed your studies and that you are invited to a graduation ceremony as well as two guests of your choice. The letter does state the date of the ceremony and that the letter is to support your VISA application.
You can select that you need a VISA support letter when you register, if you do not do this then you just need to email the exams office at exams@herts.ac.uk with their you name, student number and an address for the letter to be sent to and they will be able to process it for you.
Course Information
Am I able to change my course, if so how?
It is possible to change the course once you hold an offer of a place from the University. Please email admint@herts.ac.uk including details of your application number, full name. Please note your application may need to be re-assessed by an academic tutor who could incur delays in processing your application and receiving your offer letter.
Can I study a preparatory course before my chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree?
If you do not meet the English or academic requirement of your undergraduate or postgraduate degree, you can study on one of our preparatory courses: pre-sessional english, english for academic studies, international foundation programme, pre-masters or graduate cirtificate.
Do you offer distance learning courses?

Accommodation
How do I apply for accommodation?
The University offers a range of accommodation to international students. You can apply electronically, please see the accommodation page for details.
Will I be guaranteed accommodation in my first year of study?
We guarantee accommodation to all new international students that have applied for campus accommodation by the end of August and who already hold an offer of a place at the University.
