The Philharmonic’s first concert in 2014 opens with a set of threes. Beethoven’s Leonora Overture No.3, the popular favourite of the four overtures composed for Beethoven’s opera Fidelio.This is followed by Mozart Violin Concerto No.3., performed by the orchestra’s leader, Richard Aylwin.

The second half of the concert will be Schumann’s Symphony No.3, ‘The Rhenish’, which is regarded as his most joyous, exuberant and uplifting symphony.
