Taking Time: Craft and the Slow Revolution

Visual Arts

Part of a new touring exhibition from Craftspace curated with Helen Carnac.

Featuring textiles, jewellery, upcycling fashion, enamelling, furniture and ceramics, the exhibition features the work of nineteen international makers and artists as they reflect on the ‘Slow Revolution’.

Richly immersed in human experience and the origins and provenance of the things we make and use, the artists are asking us to think carefully about how things are made – and by whom.

The ‘Slow Revolution’, like the artists, reflects on and conceptualises a philosophical move away from the hurried forms of mass production, which are a part of all of our lives, and champions better considered more thoughtful ways of doing things.
