Love Film and TV Day

Love Film

Love Film and TV? Of course you do, so why not come along on Valentine’s Day to our second annual LOVE FILM & TV DAY. This free event will offer guest talks, illustrated by film and TV clips.

The morning (10.00am to 1:00pm) will feature a guest panel of veterans of TV production, with discussion led by local film historian Paul Welsh of Elstree Screen Heritage. This discussion will include highlights of interviews recorded as part of the on-going “Elstree Project”, a partnership between Elstree Screen Heritage and staff and students from the University’s three-year BA Course in Film and Television.

All of our veterans worked in the nearby studios at Elstree and Borehamwood, where they helped create such ever-popular TV productions as “The Avengers” (starring Patrick Macnee and Dianna Rigg),“The Saint” (with Sir Roger Moore) as well as “Gideon’s Way”,“Jason King”,“DepartmentS”, “Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)” and many more. This is your chance to not only hear the candid opinions of a very experienced panel but also to ask them your own questions.

The afternoon session (2.00pm to 5.00pm) will be led by Jan Harlan, Executive Producer of many Stanley Kubrick films. Just as he did at last year’s first Love Film and TV Day, Jan will draw heavily on his unique collection of film clips. This year his theme is “It is impossible to love and be wise”. Jan will explore how to bring art into the process of making films, and how we turn our inner fantasies into the stories that make a great film.
