Planning, development and design are core to the Sustainable Communities agenda in the creation of good places to live. The CSC is engaged in:

• Short courses on public engagement with charrettes leading to certification by the National Charrette Institute.
  
• A new MSc in Sustainable Planning.
• Planning for the impact of the Climate Change Act
• The outcomes of the Hertfordshire Charrette are published here from the UH Press.
  
• The Hertfordshire Guide to Growth is a winner of the 2009 Charter Awards given by the Council for New Urbanism.
