Who should attend this course?

This Underpinning decision making within neurological rehabilitation course is designed for all health professionals and nurses who wish to extend and enhance their theoretical knowledge to help underpin their decision making when working with those with neurological impairment.

It can be taken as a stand-alone two days or as part of the neuro short course series (selecting any of the other days that are of relevance to you and your service).

You should be a qualified healthcare professional with experience of practice that involves the assessment and management of those with neurological deficit (of all ages from child to adult).

Course Content

This course will review and explore the current theory that can be used to underpin and guide decision making within the physical rehabilitation and management of those with neurological impairment.

The course will explore a range of topics that help to support decision making in the assessment and management of patients with neurological impairment. These include a detailed look at: normal movement, motor control, central and peripheral plasticity and motor learning.

As well as focus being given to the nervous system, consideration will also be given to other body systems, including the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems.
