Who should attend this course?
This Traumatic brain injury – evidence informed decision making in the post-acute care setting course day is designed for all allied health professionals and nurses who wish to extend and enhance their knowledge to help underpin their decision making when working with those post traumatic brain injury, particularly within the post-acute/rehab/later stages.
It can be taken as a stand-alone day or as part of the neuro short course series.
You should be a qualified healthcare professional with experience of practice that involves the assessment and management of physical functioning in those with traumatic brain injury.
Course content
This one day course will review and explore the current evidence base that underpins and guides decision making within the physical rehabilitation and management of those post TBI.
The day will particularly focus on the patient after the acute stage when they might be within local services for rehabilitation/longer-term management.

Topic areas that will be covered include: a brief consideration of the acute management; alterations in tone and secondary musculoskeletal change; sensory disturbance, esp. related to vestibular dysfunction; exercise; and the neuropsychological/ cognitive sequelae, again particularly related to physical functioning.
