Supervision of midwives
Who should attend this course?
Registered Midwives who have been qualified for at least 3 years and nominated by their peers via the LSA selection process.
You need to have a first degree or evidence of relevant professional practice, plus 60 Level 6 credits which include research methods module.
We also consider applications from professionals who don’t hold a first degree but can demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills and attributes.
Course content
The Supervision of midwives programme consists of two modules, which are studied together: The Principles of Statutory Supervision of Midwives (15 credits Level 6) Leading and Advancing the Practice of the Supervision of Midwives (45 Credits Level 7)

- A practice skills book: 150 hours of practice skills related to supervisory activities need to be evidenced.
- A 3,000 word essay critically analysing the supervisory framework
