Structure

Year 1

Core Modules

  • Dissertation (Strategic Business and Information Systems)

The MSc dissertation in information systems provides an opportunity for students to independently undertake a significant piece of research in a relevant area. This module will encourage students to develop their research and analytical skills. As part of the development of this work, students will be allocated a dissertation supervisor, who will discuss the research issues. The supervisor will provide guidance and support throughout the development of the dissertation from the feasibility of the research question to the validity of the conclusion. Despite the collaborative work between the student and the supervisor, students will need to invest considerable effort in self discipline in order to study and analyse knowledge and issues relating to research problems. The dissertation is also supported by a research methods training module and students–led support group meetings.

  • Research Methods: Strategic Business and Information Systems

This module prepares the students for an individual dissertation in their chosen field. The aim of the RM module is to provide the opportunity for students to select an appropriate research approach at the postgraduate level for independent research, analysis, evaluation and academic writing. The module is supported by weekly activities online, student-led support group meetings and a number of programme online sessions.
