Who should attend this course?

This Sporting knee masterclass course is for physiotherapists, osteopaths, sports therapists, sport rehabilitators and GP’s who have an interest in sports injuries and who want to advance their knowledge and clinical skills in assessing and managing sports related knee injuries and dysfunctions.

Course content

This Sporting knee masterclass course includes a review of functional knee anatomy, the aetiology and evidence based assessment, triage and management of selected knee injuries, dysfunctions and pathologies associated with sport and athletic specific participation.

It covers both adult and paediatric populations.

Programme:

  • 09:00 Registration and coffee
  • 09:15 Introduction and welcome to StudyNet
  • 09:45 Epidemiology, aetiology and mechanism of knee injuries and dysfunction
  • 10:45 Tea/Coffee refreshments
  • 11.00 Applied anatomy, assessment and diagnosis
  • 12:30 Lunch
  • 13:30 Triage and management - including functional rehabilitation
  • 16:30 Summary and questions
  • 16.50 Evaluation and Close

Assessment

The assessment is only for those who want the credits and is a combination of a 15-minute presentation and 5-minutes of questions in January 2012 (date TBC).

The presentation will be to other course participants and the University assessors. Certificates of attendance are provided to all participants.
