Student profile - PhD student

"I came to the University of Hertfordshire to study Psychology as an undergraduate mostly because it is close to where I lived at the time, and I have now been here for seven years. I completed my undergraduate degree in 2001 and then completed my Masters here in 2002.
I investigated Involuntary Autobiographical Memory for both my undergraduate and masters research projects. The subject fascinated me and I wanted to continue the research so I applied for PhD funding and to my utter surprise I was successful.
Working toward a PhD definitely has its ups and downs but with the help of a supportive and patient supervisor it is possible! The department has knowledgeable technical staff to help with problems setting up the computer programmes needed for my experiments, and great secretaries who are always willing to help with the unknown.
I am now half way through the PhD and I have certainly learned a great deal - not all necessarily concerning my studies. I have met a few very special people who have made the experience much more positive - and presenting at a conference in New Zealand was also an unexpected bonus!"
