Creative Writing
Creative Writing is one of several subjects offered by the School of Humanities which focuses on communications and communications issues through a range of media, enabling you to acquire theoretical knowledge and understanding as well as practical skills. These subjects also offer effective complementary studies to the single and major disciplines - English Literature, History, Philosophy and English Language and Communication - and the concern these disciplines have with the production and communication and presentation of ideas.
The creative writing courses are taught by published and practised writers (novelists, poets and dramatists). Overall, our aim is to introduce you to experience of creative writing via a range of core modules which involve a wide range of literary texts, genres (short stories, plays, poems) and practical approaches to writing, whilst offering you the opportunity to pursue a topic of particular interest via the final year independent project.
