Hire our Facilities

The Artists Studio Professional Facilities Hire

The School of Creative Arts has developed the Artist Studio schemes to support experienced artists and designers to develop their own work.

The idea behind the scheme is to allow people to utilise our excellent facilities within the School but with the option of choosing the amount of hours they need to produce their own work without tutor or technician supervision.

This facility is ideal for a variety of possible users who want to use the facilities for a range of reasons such as:

  • Developments of one’s own work without the short course structure
  • Working on commissions
  • Small batch productions
  • Or simply to continue to practice and to improve your skills outside of the short course workshop structure.

It is expected that artists enrolling on Artists’ Studio will have full competence in the use of the workshop, machinery and equipment. Artists will work within the Health and Safety policies of the University and School at all times.

Within Artists’ Studio, artists and designers will have access to our facilities however tutors and technical support is not included, apart from the initial consultation and compulsory induction.

Artists’ Studios will take place on Wednesdays from September to May each year.

The cost of the facilities is £8 per hour excluding materials and firing where applicable.

Terms and conditions

Artwork which is not made on the premises or within a Short Course or within Artists’ Studio is not allowed to be fired. We do however offer a Kiln Hire facility, please enquire.

Tutors and technical support is not included, apart from the initial consultation and compulsory induction.

The studio times will be pre-allocated and can only run when a tutor is in the studio e.g. when a workshop is already running or there are enough people to employ a tutor to be in the studio.

Artists may book one of the following allocations for the whole semester. The hours can be used at your discretion over the 8/10/14 week course but is subject to availability of studio space.

Extended Hours Customers

Students who are already booked on an AM or PM course for the same term may extend their hours within that course only, at a discounted rate. The same terms and conditions apply.

Artists will be charged by the hour with a minimum booking of 16 hours per course.
