Short Courses
The University provides courses to meet the requirements of companies and organizations for retraining, developing the careers and updating the skills of their staff.
These course, which take many forms, are outlined in the web pages of the University's Business Partnership Office (BPO). In the IT sector, skills gaps and shortages are particularly acute, with an on-going need to update skills. However, the time available is often severely limited.
The School of Computer Science therefore offers the following professional level programmes:
- part-time degrees, studied entirely online through distance learning: both final year undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc, PG Diploma, PG Certificate)
- individual modules from these programmes, that can be studied stand-alone or that can lead to an award through the University’s Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS)
- custom courses for organizations, delivered partly online and partly face-to-face.
This blended approach represents the best of both worlds, since it can combine the flexibility of online study with the motivational aspects of intensive group working, plus access to specialist staff, laboratory and other facilities. If you are interested, please contact us. We will then work with you to design and deliver an efficient programme to meet your specific requirements.
