We offer a wide range of taught masters courses in Computer Science. This page summarizes the programme and provides links to more detailed information on individual courses.

Our advanced courses are designed for Computer Science graduates who are seeking professional development in a specialist area to enhance their career prospects or as a sound preparation for research.

Our generalist, flexible course and our inter-disciplinary course, run jointly with the Business School, are particularly suitable for graduates of other subjects wishing to change career direction or apply advanced computing techniques to their existing discipline.

Start Dates and Study Patterns

We offer two start dates per year: late September and late January, with study patterns as follows.

September (Semester A) intake

All the courses are normally offered for a late September start. This is a 12 month programme that finishes the following September

Semester A - September to January: taught modules
Semester B - January to May: taught modules
Semester C - May to September: project

January (Semester B) intake

All courses are normally also offered for a late January start each year. There may be some restriction on the optional modules offered. This is a 16 month programme as follows

Semester B - January to May: taught modules
Semester C - June to September: summer break
Semester A - September to January: taught modules
Semester B - January to May (following year): project

Thus, there is a four month break in the summer period that could be used for a vacation, for work experience in the UK or your home country, or for further study, e.g. industry certifications, English language or online modules. The University cannot guarantee any of the above activities but there are support services in many of these areas.
