Tutored eLearning

Tutored eLearning: our Flexible Learning approach

Our Tutored eLearning or Flexible Learning approach combines the advantages of gaining an internationally recognized degree with the benefits of studying at a local centre.

With Tutored eLearning, the University works with carefully chosen local universities, colleges or training centres in a partnership.

View our List of Approved Support Partners.

The University of Hertfordshire provides:

  • all the primary course online content and supporting materials such as text books and software, exactly as in the online programmes described on this website, except for tutorial support, which is provided locally
  • all the assessment: the coursework and the marking
  • project supervision, for which you are allocated an individual tutor

The Support Partner will provide, as a minimum:

  • supplementary tuition from staff approved by the University, for example seminars to relate the academic study to the local business environment
  • tutorial support, typically in-class or via a dedicated, moderated discussion board
  • study facilities, approved by the University, with readily-available computer resources and Internet access

The partner may also provide additional services at their discretion. You should consult them for details. Partners also set the fees.

Award and Assessment

If you are successful, you will be awarded a degree from the University of Hertfordshire. See below for programmes and award titles.

In common with the standard online programme, assessment is through coursework or in-class tests.

Application Process

Application is made directly to the University, but usually with the help of the local partner college or centre. You should enquire there, establish what they have to offer, and they will help you apply. You will need the entry requirements defined for the standard online programme. You can download the application form or obtain one locally.

The website and form have further instructions. You will need to send us a copy of your qualification transcripts, two written academic references and evidence of competence in English if it is not your first language. You should apply as early as possible, but no later than 4 weeks before the start of the course.

The University will inform you if you have been offered a place either directly or through the partner.

Fees

The fees are determined by the local partner. Normally you pay the fees directly to them in local currency, but you should check the arrangements with them.
