Wednesday 4th - Thursday 5th July 2012

This course takes place on the University's state-of-the-art de Havilland campus.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at those with a working knowledge of statistics who wish to learn about or improve their competence and confidence in using more advanced methods of analysing data, including psychologists, behavioural, health and social scientists. It is particularly suitable for those who have participated in one of our Intermediate/Refresher Courses in Statistics (formerly known as Level 1 Refresher Courses in Statistics). You are encouraged to bring your own data for discussion/analysis.

What prior knowledge is assumed?

It is assumed that delegates on this course will have knowledge of probability, the Normal distribution, hypothesis testing, regression and ANOVA techniques. Those whose experience of these topics is some time in the past should find sufficient reminders given to enable them to participate fully. Delegates who have been on our Intermediate/Refresher Course in Statistics should have appropriate prior knowledge.

What does the course cover?

The topics covered in the course are:
  • SPSS
  • revision of multiple regression
  • the general linear model - ANOVA
  • the general linear model - adjusting for confounding variables
  • introduction to multilevel modelling
  • logistic regression
  • factor analysis
  • introduction to structural equation modelling

Course fee: £560 (£466.67 excl VAT) including teas/coffees, and lunch
