You should be a qualified health or exercise professional e.g. physiotherapist, sports therapist, pharmacist or nurse.
Course content
The Obesity management for health professionals course gives you an introduction to obesity management and includes:
- an overview of the aetiology of obesity and associated disease risks o a review of the current guidelines
- a review of the evidence for the treatment of obesity with a focus on lifestyle interventions including diet, physical activity and behaviour change techniques.
It also includes workshops on how to measure obesity and basic psychological approaches for behavioural change.
In addition, the Obesity management for health professionals course explores the role of different health professionals in obesity management and how health professionals can work in an interdisciplinary way.
The Obesity management for health professionals course covers adult obesity and not paediatrics. Certificates of attendance are provided to all participants.
Assessment
If you want to carry out the assessment for credit must you be a qualified health professional with a degree or professional equivalent.
The assessment is 1,500 word report.
