Who should attend this course?

This Leadership in skills healthcare practice course is for health care professionals who have leadership responsibilities or are intending to progress to a leadership role.

The course can be taken as part of the BSc Contemporary Nursing Degree or as a stand-alone course.

Course content

The aim of the Leadership in skills healthcare practice course is to critically examine the skills of leadership which support the provision and enhancement of contemporary healthcare practice and management.

Learning and teaching sessions will normally incorporate:

  • Decision Making

  • Self-assessment and skill development

Assessment

The assessment of this course consists of:

  • A 1,000 word action plan with actions that meet your vision and goals
  • A SWOT analysis identifying your leadership strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats presented by a practice situation within health care services
  • A 2,000 word critical reflection exploring aspects of your leadership skills that enhances service provision
