International Pre-master's (Manufacturing Management)
About the course
The Pre-master's programme is designed for overseas students who have completed the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree. The programme prepares you for entry to a wide range of Master's degrees and on successful completion you are guaranteed a place on your chosen course. You can go on to do degrees in computer science, biosciences and engineering. Other subjects may be available.
The course is designed to improve your specialist knowledge and study skills in your chosen subject area and will develop your English language skills. The specialist modules will be in subject areas appropriate to your proposed postgraduate course - typically modules based on those of a BA or BSc(Hons).
The IPM commencing in January each year leads to progression to the following MSc's in September:

Entry requirements...
A University degree or equivalent plus IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. English and Research Methodology will be taught using subject-specific materials to help you with your academic English.

Project Management and Product Development
To achieve and maintain market position the manufacturing industry must develop profitable and competitive products in time, to quality and within budget. This requires the functions of the company to be organised to achieve common objectives. This module examines the organisational aspects of product development from definition through design to manufacture. The team issues and techniques of project management are addressed as applicable to the product development process and in general terms. The project management content is taught first in order to support the product development content.

Reliability Engineering
This module covers two principal areas: firstly, Weibull Analysis and the associated support material (Load Strength analysis, redundancy, Extreme and Hazard Analysis). The second part is that of experimental design. This is divided into statistical experimental design, and Taguchi Analysis.
