The Immunology: basic terms and techniques course is designed for scientists, who want to gain an up-to-date understanding of immunology terms through a series of short lectures, demonstrations and hands-on laboratory work.

It is also of use for managers, sales and marketing personnel working in areas allied to immunology

Course content

The course covers the following subject areas:

  • An overview of natural and adaptive immunity
  • Cellular and soluble components of the immune system
  • The role of B cells and T cells in immunity
  • Cytokines and chemokines in inflammation
  • Structure and function of antibodies
  • Production of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and their uses e.g. clinical, ELISA, western blotting
