Chancellor's Diamond Scholarships

This scholarship is designed to help bright students from all backgrounds access and benefit from our courses.

60 scholarships are awarded each year to students who have been identified as gifted, talented or high ability by their school or college (or equivalent).

Frequently asked questions

How much is the scholarship worth? 

£3,000 per year for the duration of your course.*

You'll be expected to become a Student Ambassador and work with younger students in local schools, inspiring them to go on to study at university.

* In order to receive the scholarship in subsequent years, you will need to maintain a 2:1 average each year.

Who is the scholarship for?

You can apply for this scholarship if you:

  • apply for a place as a full-time undergraduate on one of our campus-based courses
  • achieve the entry requirements for your course
  • are academically gifted – you'll need a minimum of 400 UCAS points, including one A grade at A level, a triple distinction BTEC National Diploma or IB diploma with 36 points, in addition to any specific requirements for your course
  • supply a reference from your school's/college's Gifted and Talented/Very Able lead teacher (or equivalent) to support your application

During your studies, you'll need to maintain a 2.1 average.

UCAS tariff points must be obtained in a single year's sitting, at the first attempt.

Excluded qualifications 

  • AS levels or equivalent
  • Key skills, Core skills, Music and British Horse Society Awards

Foundation degree students are not eligible for this scholarship.

Students who gain a place in Clearing are not eligible for this scholarship. 

Can I apply?

Yes. Application forms should be submitted before 5pm on 13 April 2012 to be considered for entry in September 2012.

Late applications will not be considered for this scholarship.

Can I receive the Chancellor’s Diamond Scholarship and the High Achievers' Diamond Scholarship in the same year?

Yes

How is the scholarship paid?

If you are selected you will automatically receive 50 per cent of the scholarship in January and a further 50 per cent in April as long as you are registered on the same course and in regular attendance.

The money will either be paid directly into your bank account via the Student Loans Company or by cheque from the University.

You must register with www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk and receive an ART ID/Student Support Number to enable us to pay the scholarship to you.

You must be in attendance on your course on the 1st December 2012 to qualify.
