About the course
The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) sees the Sector-Endorsed Foundation Degree in Early Years as the key progressions route towards Early Years Professional Status. The University of Hertfordshire validated Foundation Degree in Early Years includes the opportunity to progress onto the final 120 credits of the BA (Hons) in Education Studies in the School of Education, (and if they wish, to apply for training that leads to Qualified Teacher Status provided the criteria set by the Teacher Training Agency and School of Education are met and subjected to a competitive interview).
Why choose this course?
The programme has been designed to offer an opportunity for degree level study to students who work with young children. Holders of the Foundation Degree in Early Years are equipped for a variety of careers including nursery management, project development work, senior practitioner, advisory work and lecturing in FE colleges.

Teaching methods
The programme is offered in Part time over 3 semesters, and leads to the award of a Foundation Degree in Early Years (Leadership) 240 credits. This comprises: Year One 120 credits at Level 4, Year Two 120 credits at Level 5, with an interim award being made at the end of the first year. Successful students will be eligible to apply for the final 120 credits of the BA (Hons) Education Studies at the University of Hertfordshire, de Havilland campus. The programme will be delivered in Norfolk and the language of delivery will be English. Intake is normally Semester B (April) and Semester A (September)
