The subject

Tourism is the study of people, places and their interaction. It is a dynamic industry with an impact on economies, environments, communities and cultures.

This course focuses on tourism as a business.

The First Year considers the meaning, nature and structure of tourism, and the geographical influences that led to its growth. Modules include geography of travel and tourism and microeconomics and IT for business.

Your Second Year focuses on industry structure, the customer relationship and the impacts and interrelationships of tourism to its environment, in particular the social, cultural, economic, legal and ethical aspects.

The Final Year examines planning and development and allows you to explore sectors you are particularly interested in.

Careers

This course can lead to many jobs, from marketing and business in the tourism industry, to jobs in the public sector.

Entry grades:
220-280 UCAS points depending on subject combination - see individual subjects for details. If you are studying two GCE A levels or equivalent, we will be happy to make you an offer on an individual basis. If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (213 CBT or 79 IBT). Equivalent qualifications welcomed.
