The subject

This attractive, well-balanced course aims to promote a love of learning, boost employability and balance vocational and academic development. The course develops your theoretical understanding of sport and ability to apply knowledge to emerging issues and trends.

Current topics include:

  • coach education and improvement
  • the impact of current legislation on public, private and voluntary-sector organisations
  • sport commercialisation
  • globalisation and deviance
  • the role of sport in combating social exclusion
  • pathways to excellence for elite athletes

Taking advantage of the University's magnificent sports facilities and links with professional and regional clubs, the course has a significant practical element. This develops your understanding of coaching, sports management and sports development.

Qualification:
BSc/BA(Hons)

Entry grades:
220-280 UCAS points depending on subject combination - see individual subjects for details. If you are studying two GCE A levels or equivalent, we will be happy to make you an offer on an individual basis. If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (213 CBT or 79 IBT). Equivalent qualifications welcomed.
