Law

Joint Honours

The subject

Law is an increasingly popular subject as part of a Joint Honours degree and we have one of the top new university law schools in the UK.

First Year students are taught legal methods and skills as well as contract law. This gives you the foundations you will need to progress to a qualifying law degree if you choose.

At the start of your Second Year, you will be given more choice in how much law you study. On the Major route, you will take European law, constitutional and administrative law and criminal law.

Joint route students take European and commercial law, while Minor route students only take commercial law.

In your Final Year, you will study land law, the law of tort and equity and trusts, or company law.

Careers

A Major in law gives you exemptions from the first stage of legal professional examinations if you would like to become a:

  • solicitor
  • barrister

If you choose to pursue a non-legal career, your skills will be extremely attractive to employers.
