History

Joint Honours / Combined Honours

The subject

At the University of Hertfordshire you will have the opportunity to study history in the context of a lively group of staff that combines excellence in teaching with an international reputation for research and is committed to expanding our knowledge of the past and exploring new methods of communicating it.

History as a joint/combined honours programme aims to develop a significant body of historical knowledge of different countries, societies and cultures, enhancing an appreciation of comparative perspective.

You will develop a consciousness of the subject-specific skills involved in the practice of history and some appreciation of the variety of approaches to constructing, interpreting and presenting the past, including history's ability to illuminate the study of other subjects.

A study of history articulates well with American studies, or film or a European language.
