Flexible study

Accumulate to achieve

The CATS programme is flexible and allows you to study at either an undergraduate or postgraduate level.

It provides you with the opportunity, under guidance, to design and develop a programme of study which will suit your needs and can be undertaken at your own pace.

As a CATS student you are able to study modules from different subject areas across the University. It is ideal for return to study learners, although people of any age are welcome to apply.

Why choose a CATS course?

The Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CATS) Programme can help you:

  • Gain a higher education qualification
  • Claim credit for prior studies
  • Improve your career prospects by updating your skills
  • Develop new skills and build on existing ones
  • Prepare for return to work or change direction
  • Widen your knowledge and broaden your interests

Entry requirements - CATS Programme

The normal entry requirements depend on the intended award and the main areas of study.

Undergraduate students

  • A-levels or equivalent
  • Admission is also possible on the basis of relevant experience

Postgraduate students

  • Honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject
  • Admission is also possible on the basis of other relevant experience, education or training

You can gain credit for prior certificated learning and/or experiential learning (APL) and reduce the time taken to achieve an award, depending on the prior credit allowed and rate of study.

CATS is a flexible programme, allowing part-time or full-time study.
