Who should attend this course?
The programme is for qualified social workers / health care professionals working in fields of social care or health education who wish to gain post qualifying.
Course content
There are two routes to successful completion of the course:
- NQSW route for those students that have completed or are completing a Newly Qualified Social Workers scheme,
- Non-NQSW route for those that have not completed a Newly Qualified Social Workers scheme.
The two routes are equal with respect to the learning outcomes of the module.
The NQSW route recognises that students who have undertaken NQSW may use that award to meet 15 credits of accredited prior learning towards this further qualification.

This course is taken as a stand alone course(6SCZ0040) or as part of the MSc Social Interventions (6NMH1098) and meets the learning outcomes for the GSCC PQ Social Work Higher Specialist and Advanced Awards Assessement
For Non-NQSW:
- Learning agreement form
- Direct Observation
- Service user feedback
- Workplace document
- Line manager confirmation of performance across National Occupational Standards
- Critical Career Review (500 Words) and
- Three learning logs (word limit 750 words each) based on current casework.
For NQSW:
- Completed NQSW portfolio and
- Three learning logs (word limit 750 words each) based on current casework.
