This Care of older people in the out-of-hospital urgent care environment course is suitable for experienced paramedic healthcare professionals who want to advance their knowledge of the relevant physiology, pathophysiology and professional issues surrounding the assessment and care of an older person in the out-of-hospital urgent care setting.
This module can be taken as a ‘stand alone’ module or used towards a postgraduate qualification.
Course content
The aim of this course is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to care for an older person effectively in the out-of-hospital urgent care setting.
This course develops a clinical understanding of the relevant physiology, pathophysiology and professional issues surrounding the assessment and care of an older person in the out of hospital urgent care setting.
You evaluate key documents and literature and you are encouraged to critically analyse legislation and attitudes, concerning both society as a whole and specifically the medical professions, that impact on the well being of older people.
You also evaluate care pathways that promote a return to independence.
