Cardiology in out-of-hospital care with practice
Who should attend this course?
This Cardiology in out-of-hosptial care with practice course is suitable for experienced paramedics who deal with patients with cardiovascular disorders.
The course can be taken as a ‘stand alone’ course or used towards a postgraduate qualification.
Course content
The syllabus is designed to address areas of practice already familiar to paramedics, such as acute coronary syndromes and peri-arrest arrhythmias, as well as introduce less familiar concepts such as heart valve disease and chronic cardiac conditions.
The emphasis throughout the Cardiology in out-of-hosptial care with practice course is on understanding and applying relevant theory in order to develop a clear rationale and evidence base for clinical decisions and interventions.
The clinical phase of the Cardiology in out-of-hosptial care with practice course develops existing physical assessment, history taking and clinical decision making skills in the context of out-of-hospital cardiology.
With reference to appropriate theoretical concepts, you have the opportunity to develop clinical examination skills using laboratory facilities and sophisticated medical simulation.
Focussed history taking and cardiorespiratory examination skills facilitate the formulation of and discussion of the process of differential diagnosis, supported by critical analysis and synthesis of a range of clinical data.
You are encouraged to formulate clinical management and referral plans that challenge contemporary paramedic practice and are based on sound underpinning knowledge and highly developed clinical skills.
