  • Aseptic techniques and good cell culture practice*
  • Identification and eradication of mycoplasma, bacterial and fungal infections
  • Types of animal cells and their characteristics in culture 
  • Stem cell types, characteristics and properties
  • Cell Culture media and growth requirements for animal and stem cell culture*
  • Preparation of cell culture medium*
  • Propagation and maintenance of cells in culture*
  • Quantification and Subculture of cells*
  • Growth Kinetics and maintenance of cells in culture*
  • Cryopreservation and resuscitation of cells*
  • Determination of cell viability*

* These sessions will also be covered at a practical level in the laboratory.

You have the opportunity to come and spend a block of time (e.g. one week) in the laboratory to gain hands-on experience and full training in cell culture techniques.
