Who should attend this course?
This Assessment and management of health needs course is suitable for Registered nurses in all fields who are working in a clinical setting and required to undertake holistic assessments of patients, clients or service users. It is an optional module within the contemporary nursing programme and a compulsory module within the specialist community nursing programme.
Course content
The course explores methods of health needs assessment and approaches, incorporating the use of tools and frameworks, patient/ client centred communication and history taking
It also covers the use of health information to provide an evidence base with application to a range of contexts closely linked to your experiences in your practice areas.
- Level 6: To enable you to develop core skills and knowledge required for effective practice in assessment and management of individual health needs.
- Level 7: To enable you to develop a critical understanding of the skills and knowledge required for effective practice in assessment and management of health needs

Assessment for this course includes:
- a physical assessment skills development handbook with evaluation of learning in relation to practical skills
- an analytical account of approaches and management in relation to a patient/ client encountered in practice
