Advanced decision making and problem solving
Who should attend this course?
The Advanced decision making and problem solving course is aimed at all registered and practicing nurses or midwives, and related health and social care professionals who hold a first degree.
Course content
You will be able to:
- Critically analyse and evaluate the process of decision making and problem solving in their practice.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of theoretical models of decision making and problem solving and how this applies to patients.
- Explore the evidence base for decision making in health and social care and how it may be applied in practice.
The topics that the course covers include:
- The theory and process of decision making and problem solving
- Developing pathways of care in clinical contexts/planning logistics
- Politics of care including government policy, targets, institutional audit, use of evidence, care rationing and advocacy
- Patient/public consultation/partnership working, inter professional working
