Advanced acupuncture

Who should attend the course?

The Advance acupuncture course is for physiotherapists, osteopaths, nurses, podiatrists and other regulated health care professionals who have successfully completed a Foundation Acupuncture Training and want to further develop skills and knowledge in acupuncture which they can integrate into practice with a view to providing effective management of a number of conditions.

The course may be taken as a stand alone module or as part of a post graduate award.

Course content

The Advanced acupuncture course helps professionals to implement and evaluate presenting pain and dysfunction and design effective management strategies for various conditions in order to facilitate rehabilitation.

You will develop a thorough understanding of the principles underpinning pain management, tissue healing and emotional aspects of biopsychosocial management together with the application of these principles when implementing programmes for specific clients and patient groups.

The course includes:

  • a review and exploration of the evidence base and practical issues surrounding acupuncture and the restoration of homeostasis
  • motor learning skills in acupuncture
  • clinical reasoning as they apply to presenting conditions healing and rehabilitation within contemporary healthcare and workplace settings

You are encouraged to draw on current and past experiences of clinical pain management and evaluative processes, and actively engage in critical appraisal of relevant published material in your specialist field in addition to more generic literature. Active participation in workshops, tutorials and seminars is a requirement of participants.

Course fees

Credit level for this course: Postgraduate level 7 (15 credits)

The fee for self-funding students is £540.
