Who should attend this course?
This Acute clinical care course is designed for students who work within general hospital wards or specific practice areas, which cater for acutely ill patients in the secondary, care environment.
Course content
The Acute clinical care course aims to integrate knowledge with practice in order to establish professional competence in dealing with the patient who has become acutely unwell. A variety of conditions will be discussed that can influence the delivery of holistic evidence based care of the acutely unwell patient.
The course will develop basic understanding of relevant pathophysiology in disease process and its effects on the treatment and therapeutic interventions for who have become acutely unwell.
You will develop professional competence in implementing and managing holistic, evidence based nursing care for patients with complex conditions necessitating higher dependency care without requiring admission to an Intensive Care Unit or similar.
Drawing on relevant research-based evidence this course explores the body’s ability to deal with disease and how as nurses we can identify the mechanisms involved in order to act in a timely and professional manner.
It considers the broader strategic, ethical and legal issues which are posed by the availability of ever increasing technological capabilities.
