About the course
This programme offers Qualified Teacher Status for the 3-11 age phases in primary schools with a choice of specialism in Foundation/Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 1/Key Stage 2.
Out of the thirty-eight weeks of the programme, you spend eighteen weeks on practical experience in a local primary school.
Entry requirements
A Honours degree (2.2 or higher), awarded by a UK university or an award recognised as equivalent by the Department for Education and Skills. Plus GCSE passes of at least grade C in English language, mathematics and a science subject.
Personal suitability for teaching is important and is assessed at interview. A minimum of two weeks' continuous experience in a state primary school is essential before application. Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau screening required.
English language requirements
All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered
- GCSE English language grade A-C
- IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)
