About the course

  • This programme is an innovative and exciting work based learning route for qualified nurses (adult) to undertake pre-registration midwifery.
  • Our programme has an increased emphasis on normality and modules which emphasise a holistic approach to care. The programme will be delivered using a blend of teaching and learning strategies, primarily utilising e-learning, but also facilitating attendance blocks of study to strengthen the implementation of enquiry based and practice skills learning.
  • The objective is to inculcate independence, initiative, the ability to work with others, to research scientific literature and to solve problems; skills commensurate with the award of bachelors degree with honours and an independent midwifery practitioner.

Application for the course is done via our web site www.herts.ac.uk. Please apply direct on line via the website. You will see that if you have difficulties (as computers seem to have a mind of there own), the application can be printed and posted. Please ensure that you make it clear that you are an Adult registered Nurse, and that your programme included research methods in your personal statement. Additionally you will need to print the last 4 pages and give them to you referees (one employer and one academic) to send directly to the University or in a sealed envelop to bring to your interview. References need to be seen before selection please, and this is your responsibility.
