About the course

  • Physiology is the study of the normal functions of living things i.e. how it all works
  • A knowledge of physiology enables us to understand how and why physiology processes are disrupted in disease. Such knowledge enables us to develop medicines and vaccines to be developed or increasingly in today's society, how lifestyles need to be changed.
  • Despite our current knowledge of physiology there is still much to investigate; for example, our understanding of the physiology of the brain is still limited and the effects of weightlessness on the future human body need to be addressed, in order for space exploration to occur.
