About the course

  • Pharmacology is the study of the action of drugs or other chemicals on living systems.
  • Pharmacology studies the effects of drugs and how these effects occur, at the whole body level (clinical pharmacology), at the tissue level (system pharmacology), and at the level of DNA (molecular pharmacology).
  • Pharmacology encompasses chemotherapy, the use of drugs to kill foreign cells; toxicology, the study of the poisonous effects of chemicals and psychopharmacology, the study of the effects of drugs on human and animal behaviour.
  • The demand for new drugs continues and the University of Hertfordshire had strong links with the pharmaceutical which is located in this region.

Entry requirements

240 points including 2 science GCE A Levels or equivalent in biology and/or chemistry. Plus GCSE English, mathematics and dual science award or biology and chemistry at grade C or above.
