About the course

  • Pharmaceutical Science invoves the study of the chemistry of pharmaceutical products, i.e. drugs and the industrial technologies required in order to develop full scale drug manufacture.
  • Pharmaceutical Science focuses on the design, action, delivery, disposition, use of pharmaceuticals and the process development, pharmaceutical analysis and quality assurance of drugs.
  • There is a strong emphasis on chemical analysis of pharmaceutics which is enabled by the excellent research facilities  for example, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and protein gel analysis.

 

Entry requirements

260 UCAS points to include 2 Science A levels one of which must be Chemistry (other subjects accepted as a science: Psychology, Physics, Maths & Geography) GCSE English Language, Maths & Double Science (or 2 single sciences) at Grade C or above.

BTEC Nationals (NQF/QCF) in Applied Science at DMM to include 6 Chemistry related units at Merit or above. GCSE English Language, Maths & Double Science (or 2 single sciences) at Grade C or above.

Successful completion of Access to HE with a Merit profile in 45 credits at Level 3. 12 Credits of which must be in Chemistry-titled modules with a minimum of Merit grades (Other science related access courses will require evaluation to check the scientific content).

English language requirements

All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered

- GCSE English language grade A-C
- IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)
