About the course
- Your learning experience is constructed from 12 years of professional leadership in paramedic education and development, specifically designed to support your studies and enhance your work experience.
- The BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree is the first nationally to integrate your full paramedic training to the Health Professions Council (HPC) registration standards within a full-time degree programme.
- Your vocational placement is with one of the busiest ambulance services in the world; the London Ambulance Service (LAS).
- You will be able to register with the Health Professions Council (HPC) as a qualified Paramedic on successful completion of this BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree, which significantly increases your employability opportunities.

What will you need to apply for BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science?
Academic requirements
- 280 UCAS points, including GCE A level (or equivalent) grade B in a natural science subject (Biology, Chemistry or Physics).
- ‘Access to Science’ or ‘Access to Medicine’ courses are also considered (if you do not have 280 UCAS points) and you need to undertake the maximum amount of natural science available on your chosen access course. In addition you need to pass and be credited with 45 credits at level 3 of which 24 of these must be at distinction.
- We will accept BTEC qualifications in public and/or uniformed services when it is in addition to an A Level grade B in a natural science.
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English language, mathematics and double science.
- Equivalent qualifications are also welcomed.
- Mature students are welcome to apply.
Practical requirements
- You should be physically fit.
- You should also have a full clean (no points) UK manual driving license with provisional C1 entitlement.
What stages are there in the selection process?
If your application is sucessful, your selection process for the BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree includes:
- Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) screening. This will show all convictions and cautions including those you were given to understand would be removed from your records (perhaps at 18). Note of their presence should be indicated on your application. The details will not be required until interview.
- Health clearance through the occupational health service and will be informed of the required immunisations you need.
- Suitably qualified potential students are invited for an interview generally between November and April, which must be attended prior to an offer being made.
