About the course

  • Molecular Biology and Genetics involves the study of biology at the molecular level, providing an insight into the building blocks of life itself.
  • DNA carries the hereditary information that determines the structures of proteins. It contains through which cells are instructed to grow and divide, to differentiate into specialized cells thereby generating the millions of different life forms that exist.
  • The university has excellent research facilities for molecular biology enabling students to experience key techniques for example, PCR and bioinformatics.

Entry requirements

260 UCAS points to include 2 Science A levels one must be either Biology or Chemistry (other subjects accepted as a science: Psychology, Physics, Maths & Geography). GCSE English Language, Maths & Double Science (or 2 single sciences) at Grade C or above

BTEC Nationals (NQF/QCF) in Applied Science only at DMM. GCSE English Language, Maths & Double Science (or 2 single sciences)at Grade C or above.

Successful completion of Access to HE with Merit Profile in 45 credits at Level 3 (Other science related access courses will require evaluation to check the scientific content)

English language requirements

All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered

- GCSE English language grade A-C
- IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)
