Entry requirements
We require at least 2:2 (or equivalent) degree in Humanities or a Business subject. Graduates with an Honours Degree in any discipline who have otherwise demonstrated potential to succeed at postgraduate level Journalism and Media Communications will also be considered. International students should have an English Language assessment of IELTS 7, or equivalent as determined by the School of Humanities.We are pleased to accept all qualifications included in the UCAS tariff points system (e.g. International Baccalaureate, key skills). English language requirements
All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered
- GCSE English language grade A-C
- IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)
Other English language tests are accepted. Please contact the International Office for details.

Professional accreditation
The Mass Media Communications group is made up of academics who have professional experience of print, web design, journalism and PR and this will lend the programme a currency and employability edge that will attract students. In addition, the MA will seek professional recognition with the Periodicals Training Council (PTC), the lead body for best practice in training and development and people management for the magazine and business media industry.
